A New Spyro Game Is In Development, According To Reports
Spyro The Dragon made a successful return in 2018 with the , a nostalgia-filled package containing remasters of the first three (and best) games in the franchise. But while it was all well and good looking back to a simpler time, wouldn’t it be great if Activision opted to bring the dragon back for some brand-new adventures?
It’s been well over a decade since fans have been able to sink their teeth into an original Spyro game, and the remasters clearly proved that there’s life in the old dragon yet. Good news then, as it sounds as if Activision looking into developing a entirely new game for the much-loved series.
Now, it’s worth mentioning that this just a rumour, and should be taken with a pinch of your saltiest salt. With that said, it does come from TheGamingRevolution, a YouTube channel with a pretty decent track record when it comes to Call Of Duty rumours. While Spyro is a little out of the channel’s wheelhouse, both Call Of Duty and Spyro are Activision-owned, so the link is there.
While their tweet admittedly doesn’t give much (or anything at all) away, the wording does rather seem to imply brand-new game rather than another remaster. When pressed for further information, TheGamingRevolution simply said to expect more information on the game in the “coming months”. They added that we probably won’t be seeing the game until 2021.
We’ve heard multiple reports recently that Activision is planning a of remasters for 2020/2021. , , and even for some bizarre reason. Many of these claims actually came from The GamingRevolution last week, but a lot of previous reports and other sources back up many of these claims. Although I again stress that it’s unconfirmed as of right now.
It could be that Activision is simply developing a remaster of a PS2-era Spyro game like , but I reckon we’d all much prefer a new game at this point. The same goes for Crash, but I’d happily take as many Tony Hawk remasters as Activision can throw at me.
If any of these rumoured Activision projects are legit, I’d imagine we’ll find out at some point this Summer. Basically whenever Activision decides what it’s doing in lieu of E3 2020. Publishers till need to announce their games, right?
