Little Girl Recreates Moon Landing To Draw Attention To Potholes

A little girl has recreated the iconic moon landing footage on a pothole-filled street to try and convince authorities to fix the road.

The funny clip was filmed on a street in Perm, western Russia, and has since been shared on social media where people have had a chuckle at the unusual attempt to get officials to sort out the problem.

The black and white video shows a girl who has been identified as six-year-old Darya Kuchumova stepping down from a ladder and then walking across the heavily pitted surface while wearing a spacesuit complete with helmet.

Little Darya manages to perfectly emulate the slow and steady steps taken by Neil Armstrong when he stepped off Apollo 11 all the way back in 1969.

As the camera zooms out and we see that she’s not on the moon, but a potholed street, the infamous Apollo 13 line, ‘Houston, we have a problem’ can be heard.

According to local media, the little girl came up with the idea all by herself and roped in her uncle to film, edit and share the clip, which he was happy to do.

She said she came up with the idea as a way to draw attention to the state of the road, which her older sister has to drive on every day to get to university.

Her sister said her back hurts from having to regularly use the road and has backed her little sister’s call for authorities to sort it out.

Online, road users are delighted with the fun clip, with one praising: “I liked the idea. Well done. It should work.”

And, the good news is that it has, with authorities saying they are already working on a plan to mend the road.

According to reports, an unnamed representative of the local city hall said: “This road will be repaired not because of the video. This road was planned to be reconstructed from the previous year and the works will begin when the weather gets warmer, in April, most probably.”

According to the local authorities they plan to widen the street, creating four lanes.

Nicely done, kid.
