The Veronicas And 35 Other Australian Musicians Sing 'Untouched'
Last week, the world was blessed with movie star Gal Gadot leading a bunch of celebrities in singing John Lennon’s incredible ‘Imagine’.
Well, that was so last week because some of Australia’s best musicians have teamed up to put a Down Under version together.
It gives us the utmost pleasure in delivering your new coronavirus social distancing song ‘Untouched’.
The song is already a banger in its own right and has left people singing at the top of their lungs ever since it debuted in 2007.
However, this acoustic version amid a pandemic which encourages people to avoid touching our faces and other things couldn’t be more relevant.
The video features *takes a breath* Cub Sport, San Cisco, Wafia, TKAY, Allday, G Flip, Vance Joy, RUEL, Cosmo’s Midnight, Kira Puru, Alex Lahey, Vlossom, Jack River, Skegss, Tia Gostelow, Nicole Millar, Clea, Ball Park Music, Maddy Jane, Tyne-James Organ, Eves Karydas, Woodes, mallrat, E^ST, WAAX, oh boy, Bec Sandridge, BATTS, odette, Montaigne, Northeast Party House, Asta, Alex The Astronaut, CXLOE, Lonelyspeck, Sycco…and finally The Veronicas.
We told you it was a bunch of the best.
While some people might have been expecting the likes of Jimmy Barnes, Olivia Newton John or Daryl Braithwaite, we’re sorry if you’re disappointed.
But this group of artists make up some of the best and brightest batch that are rocketing up the Aussie charts and many have appeared in the Triple J Hottest 100.
We could be biased because we’re Aussie, but it certainly beats Gal Gadot’s video.
The three-minute long clip was shared on Gal’s Instagram page and showed a host of stars, including Natalie Portman, Mark Ruffalo and Will Ferrell, taking turns to sing.
In the video, Gal says: “Hey guys! Day six in self-quarantine and I’ve got to say these past few days have got me feeling a bit philosophical.
“You know this virus… it has affected the entire world. Everyone. It doesn’t matter who you are, or where you’re from, we’re all in this together.
“I saw a video of an Italian guy playing the trumpet on his balcony, for all the people locked in their homes, and he was playing ‘Imagine’ and there was something so powerful and pure about this video.”
She then sings the first line of the song before the video quickly switches to Kristen Wiig. It then goes onto Jamie Dornan before going to Labrinth and then to James Marsden, who hands over to Sarah Silverman and… well, you get the point. More stars than you can see in the night sky, basically.
