However, its discovery in the files of 2019’s suggests that it won’t be released as a standalone game, but as DLC for the latest Call Of Duty entry. This tracks with a report from yesterday, which suggested that a number of remastered multiplayer maps would be added to .

According to one alleged insider whose Twitter account has since mysteriously vanished, Infinity Ward is bringing the maps to the most recent game as part of its continuing efforts not to split the community. With this in mind, it makes perfect sense for Activision to release the campaign remaster as DLC for the 2019 game. After all, who would buy a standalone remaster of if the maps were only available in an entirely separate game?

Activision and Infinity Ward already revived a number of fan-favourite maps as part of ‘s first two seasons of content. A handful of popular maps, including Rust and Shipment, are already in the latest game in remastered form. But the idea of heading back to Terminal and Favela to tear it up like its 2009 all over again? exactly the kind of news we need right now.

Oh, and of course there’s the prospect of replaying one of Call Of Duty’s best campaigns to date… not too shabby. Not too shabby at all. With the game files now all but confirming that this remaster is the real deal, expect Activision to formally announce something soon.
