Entire Street Turns Out To Clap NHS Worker On Her Way To Work

A young ambulance worker was left in floods of tears after her entire street came out to applaud her on the way to her shift on Thursday afternoon (26 March).

The cheers from her community – including her mum, dad, and sister – obviously touched the emergency care worker, as she held her head in her hands as she walked to her car.

The entire nation turned out – and turned blue – to clap the NHS staff in the UK at 8pm that same evening, but her mum Ali mentioned to some locals that Tayla had to start work at 4pm, and so would miss the event.

She thought nothing more of it, until everyone turned out when she left to begin her shift. As well as that, there was a homemade cake and a packet of Cadbury’s Miniature Heroes waiting for her, too.

Ali explained: “It was overwhelming for all of us.

“Tayla just couldn’t believe it. She couldn’t believe that people would even notice what she’s doing. She just loves her job.

“I had no idea the whole street would come out. I just thought it might be our next door neighbours and the house opposite.

“What I didn’t realise was that every single house had at least one person come out to clap her.”

“It carried on all the way up our street and you could hear them clapping all the way up the next street too.

“It was so emotional, I could barely speak. It was just overwhelming pride.

“We barely know anyone on our street. You see each other daily, but you don’t know each other’s names.”

She continued: “There’s been some nights where Tayla’s come back and we’ve had to sit down and she’s had a bit of a cry from being exhausted.

“She’s seeing things that are quite scary. But she goes out there and puts a brave face on.

“We don’t know enough about coronavirus and that’s not the only thing they’re facing out there.”

Since the video was shared online, it’s been viewed more than 700,000 times and liked more than 48,000 times on Facebook.
