'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2' Remaster Could Reportedly Release This Week

The long-rumoured campaign remaster looks like it’s coming sooner than we thought. In true Call of Duty style, ChalieIntel has tweeted the trailer which was apparently leaked from PlayStation Store Germany. You can check out the trailer in the tweet below or go here for a direct link.

This would tie in with what we’ve recently reported; namely that would release this year and that the latest update included artwork for the remastered title. And Call of Duty leaker, @Okami13 thinks it’s coming as soon as today.

The remaster was first kind-of-announced unofficially last year by way of a PEGI rating. And earlier this month, Twitter user @Okami13 – who just happened to know would release on March 10 – claimed that the remaster would be released this year. More recently, @Okami13 has pinned a tweet, simply saying “March 30th” as well as another (thanks, GamesRadar) saying that he’s “praying campaign actually releases tomorrow” so he doesn’t look silly.

The remastered artwork that we reported on last week also backs up these claims of an imminent release. The artwork was datamined (again) from an update to 2019’s via CharlieIntel. Alongside the artwork was a description that reads: : Purchase and receive the Underwater Demo Team Classic Ghost Bundle.”

As our Ewan pointed out, it does suggest that remastered might be a DLC for the current game, rather than a standalone title, and that it will only include the campaign.

It would be totally in keeping with Activision for them to release the remaster suddenly and with little – official – warning. Despite the multitude of leaks and rumours surrounding the battle royale mode, , Activision didn’t confirm anything until 24 hours before the mode was released, earlier this month so it’s highly likely they’ll do the same with the Modern Warfare 2 remaster.

It seems that Activision is all about reviving older Call of Duty titles at the moment. In case you missed it, we reported that the title is rumoured to be a reboot of the original Black Ops game and will see the return of Alex “Numbers” Mason and Sergeant Frank Woods. Nothing has been officially confirmed by Activision yet (is anyone surprised?) but we’ll be sure to keep you updated as soon as we hear more.

EA’s New ‘Rocket Arena’ Is More Than Another Battle Royale

BY THEREDNOW STAFF Y’know when games get revealed and they don’t really do it for you, at the first time of asking? I definitely got the impression that, after its spot on this year’s EA Play presentation, that has firmly fallen into that category. What was shown off covered some key bases: this is a […]
