'HQ Trivia' Returns Thanks To Backing From Anonymous Investor
You may have heard that , the interactive mobile quiz app that offered cash prizes, was shut down suddenly at the end of February after firing its entire staff and leaving a number of players without their promised prize money. Well, it seems that the show has been brought back, with the first show airing early this morning.
The company’s CEO Rus Yusupov made the announcement via Twitter and a push notification was also sent to anyone that still had the app installed on their device. The tweet reads, “bringing @hqtrivia back tonight with @mattwasfunny!! 9p ET on the HQ app”.
According to Gamespot, the demise of came about for a variety of reasons. There was apparently some dispute between staff and investors and the loss of a much-liked host of the show also played a part. But ultimately, it seems that the money ran out and it was shut down after a failed acquisition.
But is now back, thanks to an anonymous investor, and it’s reported that this has provided enough funding for the show to start up again. You heard??!? @hqtrivia is back tonight at 9pm eastern! Download the app now! Also if you been waiting to cash out, you’ll be able to this week!”
Now seems like a great time for a comeback for , especially with the current situation with the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. And as Richards commented to The Wall Street Journal, “I just hope I can make people smile cause things have been pretty sucky lately!”
