Well, that’s another week in lockdown done, and you’re getting through it! It might have been a struggle, and there might have been a few low points… but every day brings us one step closer to the end of this whole mess – so well done.

As we’ve been told so many times now, staying indoors is . It really is. All we have to do is plonk ourselves down on a comfortable sofa and watch telly, read a book, or play video games. Hell, the World Health Organisation has actually gone and advised us to spend our time playing video games. Not our time obviously, but this is the first time I can tell my wife that seshing basically amounts to doctor’s orders.

Anyway, it’s the weekend – our second weekend of lockdown, in fact. As I have done for the last few weeks, I’m back once again with a roundup of all the latest free (or very very cheap) games to keep you occupied and indoors for the next seven days. So let’s stop screwing around and dive right in, shall we? We shall.

Kicking off with the big one this weekend, the multiplayer mode for will be free for all from today (April 3rd) at 6pm until April 6th at 6pm. All you need to do is download and install the free-to-play battle royale (if you haven’t already), and you’ll be able to access a special playlist for the next few days.

Oh, and if you’ve never played ? Now is the time to give it a go. It’s free, and it’s brilliant. The same goes for fellow battle royales and . All great fun with mates, and a good way to stay in touch during this difficult time.

PC gamers can also get their hands on another FPS for free this weekend if Call Of Duty isn’t their style. is an excellent multiplayer shooter for anyone who misses the days when you couldn’t move for WWII games. It’s free on Steam until Monday, but it’ll be half price until April 10th if you decide you really dig it.

Also on PC, the Epic Games Store is once again offering three freebies for the week. First up there’s a drawing party game from the makers of Jackbox that often descends into people making the most offensive things they can just to get a laugh. At least in my social circles anyway. Be better than me, yeah? Anyway, it’s a great game to play with family and friends via long distance right now.

Then there’s , an excellent exploration/mystery game in which players must get to the bottom of a dark family secret. Finally, Epic Games Store is offering , a delightful little action adventure game that I honestly can’t recommend enough. Again, all three games are free via Epic Games Store for a whole week, so make sure you check them out.

Ubisoft is also currently doing its part with a series of free giveaways and trials for PC users. You can check out the full list here, but the real headline is that the publisher is giving away the 2D platformer completely free. Seriously, you to play this game if you can, it’s sheer platforming nirvana. There are also free trials for and .

That’s it for all the new freebies this week, but there are still a few things you might be interested. Continuing on from last week, the good people at GOG are still giving away a 27 PC games. There’s a diverse mix in there, so be sure to dive in and take a look. I’d bet there’s a little something for everyone.

While not technically “free” don’t forget that you can still get your hands on a vast library of AAA and indie titles via Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Now. These monthly subscription services, but they do offer an all-you-can-eat buffet of fantastic games. The likes of and are all available across the two services, so check them out.

I also wanted to draw attention to the massive spring sales that are currently popping off on Nintendo Switch and PS4. You can get a ton of excellent games for under £20 on PS4 right now, including , and . Meanwhile, it’s always a miracle when Nintendo sells digital games for a reasonable price, so definitely take a look and see what’s on offer there.
