'Saint's Row The Third Remastered' Officially Confirmed With Release Date
It feels like the last few months have brought us nothing but remasters and that trend seems to be continuing. Thanks to an announcement on Twitter, it looks like we can dive into a remaster of on May 22.
An ESRB listing was spotted by Eurogamer earlier today which confirmed the existence of the remastered title and that it would head to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Of course, there had been no official word at that time but it looked likely that it would come soon – we just didn’t expect it to come quite as soon as this afternoon. You can check out the official announcement trailer below.
was developed by Volition and originally released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 back in 2011. If you’re unfamiliar with the game, it has a very -ish vibe and certainly requires the Mature rating that the ESRB has given it, not least of all because of the game’s signature weapon, the sex toy bat.
Here’s the blurb from the official site of the original game.
“Years after taking Stilwater for their own, the Third Street Saints have evolved from street gang to household brand name, with Saints sneakers, Saints energy drinks and Johnny Gat bobble head dolls all available at a store near you. The Saints are kings of Stilwater, but their celebrity status has not gone unnoticed. The Syndicate, a legendary criminal fraternity with pawns in play all over the globe, has turned its eye on the Saints and demands tribute. Refusing to kneel to the Syndicate, you take the fight to Steelport, a once-proud metropolis reduced to a struggling city of sin under Syndicate control.”

It could be that the apparent leak, earlier today prompted the announcement of the game now as it seemed likely that it would coincide with the reveal of Saints Row V. There’s still no news on the latter but maybe we’ll hear more next month when Saints Row: The Third Remastered launches.
And if they were planning on releasing with very little warning, they did a pretty good job. Activision tried the same with which released last week, but the surprise was spoiled somewhat by numerous rumours and leaks way before it saw the light of day.
