Win A Piece Of Earth's Moon By Playing ‘World Of Tanks Blitz’

Here’s one for anyone staring up at the night sky, desperate for a little something more in the way of, I guess, escapism planting roots somewhere new. While (reviewed here) is currently flying players off to a beautiful island getaway, the team behind is offering something different.

Play the (free-to-play, with all the caveats that come with that) game during its ‘Gravity Force’ mode on the Moon’s Sea of Tranquility, which runs from April 10 to 16, and the best of the best can win themselves an actual piece of our actual Moon’s actual Sea of Tranquility.

Which is quite the prize, really, isn’t it? I mean, you can’t go there (easily) – but it’s . A thing, spanning a whole acre, out there orbiting the Earth. Your Animal Crossing island? Sadly, it exists exclusively in the realm of virtual reality.

These plots of lunar land have been purchased by World of Tanks series makers Wargaming in partnership with Lunar Embassy USA, whose head honcho Dennis Hope says: “We were delighted to partner with the team to take tank battles to the surface of the Moon – and we will be thrilled to welcome some new neighbours on to our Lunar home. This is one small step for man, but one giant leap for Tank-kind.”

Cheesy AF, but, we’ll allow it. The ‘Gravity Force’ mode is also available on other maps, including Winter Malinovka, Desert Sands and Dead Rail. So you can float your massive military hardware around the place, regardless of real-world physics. There’s just one caveat: you need to have one tank at Tier V or above to participate.

More info in the trailer above, while a live stream with further details is due to take place on April 8 (today!) at 6.30pm BST/7.30pm CEST. More info on can be found at its official site.

BY THEREDNOW STAFF Y’know when games get revealed and they don’t really do it for you, at the first time of asking? I definitely got the impression that, after its spot on this year’s EA Play presentation, that has firmly fallen into that category. What was shown off covered some key bases: this is a […]
