'Call Of Duty: Warzone' Gets New Mode, Double XP Weekend On The Way

A new week brings with it a new update for and There are plenty of cool new things to get excited about – particularly as the free-to-play battle royale mode just introduced a brand new way to play.

Sadly, it’s not a Duos mode (although there’s plenty of evidence to suggest that’ll be coming as part of Season 3 soon enough). No, the new mode is a twist on the original three-person Trios. It’s called Scopes and Scatter Guns, and as the name implies, it limits the weapons available in the battle royale to snipers and shotguns.

I’ve not actually had a chance to try this mode out for myself yet, but I’m willing to bet players will stick to snipers for the majority of the game. They’ll camp out on rooftops until the circle finally closes in, at which point the last minute of the match will be a bloodbath of shotgun-fueled mayhem. I’m excited to see for myself.

“Grab your merry band of three in this twist on Battle Royale that brings you into new ranges of play,” Activision wrote in a blog post. “Will you get up close and pack a devastating punch with a shotgun? Or decide to deal death at distance with a sniper? Make your choice or do a mix of both, just try to outlast the enemy and the collapse in this Battle Royale variant to claim victory. “

The new update should be available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, so make sure to go and update your game now if you’re planning on playing later. I’ve been burned by an unexpected update before. It still hurts.

Meanwhile, you’ll be glad to know that both and will be getting another Double XP Weekend. Given that none of us can really go anywhere and do anything else right now (for obvious reasons) I welcome the chance to get stuck into some multiplayer mayhem and rank up. The event kicks off this Friday, April 17th at 6pm here in the UK. It’ll be available until Monday at 6pm.

In other news, we recently learned that Activision has now banned an impressive 70,000 cheaters from the battle royale. Given the company only announced it’d weeded out 50,000 cheaters a few short weeks ago, that’s a fair bit of progress.

Unfortunately most of the cheaters are gone and I still suck, so now I just have myself to blame. Or my team. Let’s blame the team.

EA’s New ‘Rocket Arena’ Is More Than Another Battle Royale

BY THEREDNOW STAFF Y’know when games get revealed and they don’t really do it for you, at the first time of asking? I definitely got the impression that, after its spot on this year’s EA Play presentation, that has firmly fallen into that category. What was shown off covered some key bases: this is a […]
