Hide your kids, hide your wallet, because the Steam Summer Sale is awakening from its year-long slumber once more. Frankly, I don’t think there’s ever been a better Summer for a ton of monstrous discounts on games big and small, what with the fact that most of us are currently unable to leave out houses right now.

Yeah, I might not be able to go see my gran, but at least I can pick up that game I wanted for 50% off. We have to take all the wins we can get right now.

Anyway, when is it? According to the always-reliable SteamDB developer Pavel Djundik on Twitter, the Steam Summer Sale kicks off on June 25th. You’ll have a few glorious weeks of bargains before it all comes to an end of July 9th. This is exactly when last year’s sale kicked off and ended, so there aren’t really any surprises here. To be honest, the bigger shock would have been if the dates hadn’t leaked for a change.

While we don’t know exactly what or how many discounts there’ll be this summer, expect the usual extravagance. I mean come on, it’s the Steam Summer Sale. It never really disappoints, does it? I only hope is discounted to under £10 again so I can do what I always do: pick one friend at random and harass them into buying it. They always thank me eventually.

In other Steamy news, Djundik recently claimed that Valve is working on some kind loyalty/reward system for Steam customers. According to reports, this new feature would reward buyers with various items and badge levels that could, in theory, lead to discounts on select titles. Nintendo has been doing a similar thing for ages now, so I could see Valve working it into Steam.

It also sounds as if we’ll be getting a wider range of ways to respond to reviews. At present, you can mark customer reviews as helpful, unhelpful, or funny. These new options would include the option to mark reviews as ‘deep thoughts’, ‘heartwarming’, ‘hilarious’, ‘hot take’, and ‘poetry’.

I’m assuming the idea here is to make it easier to weed out the reviews that aren’t really that helpful at all, but also gives amused readers the chance to mark it as the epic poem it is. None of these changes are confirmed, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens there. Till then, I’ll be counting down the days till the Summer Sale.
