Free Games Roundup: You Don't Want To Miss This Week's Freebies

BY THEREDNOW STAFF

What makes this also simpler, is that we’ve been getting a stable stream of cost-free video games to download and also play.

Speaking of Ubisoft, the firm still has a rather good choice of cost-free video games, trials, as well as demos that you can access from right here.

Let’s get the big one out of the way, because you’ve almost certainly heard by now. is currently free on the Epic Games Store. Yes, I don’t know many people who own a copy of Rockstar’s masterful open world epic at this point, but I bet there are millions of us who’ve either sold their copy or don’t own it on PC. In any case, you can make it yours on PC right now. For nothing. That’s amazing.

Feel like exploring an open world but would rather learn than engage in brutal combat? Ubisoft has you covered. The excellent – and educational – Discovery Tour modes from and are entirely free to download via Uplay. These modes are an incredible way to explore the open worlds of Ancient Egypt and Greece, learning about landmarks, monuments, and people as you go. I can’t recommend it enough for anyone struggling to keep their kids educated and entertained in these trying times.

Speaking of Ubisoft, the company still has a pretty decent selection of free games, trials, and demos that you can access from here. The Discovery Tour packs are still very much the headline act, but there’s a few other cool bits you might want to take a look at.

Those are the big freebies for this week – and I think we can all agree they’re pretty damn big. Still, there are some other bits and bobs floating around for anyone interested. GOG, for instance, is giving away a massive selection of 27 classic PC games for absolutely nothing – go take a look and help yourself.

Meanwhile, Steam is offering the unusual stealth-horror title for free. It’s weird, disturbing, and has an aesthetic that I absolutely adore. You might as well check it for yourself while it’s free, right?

As always, I’m also here to remind you that that battle royale titles like and are free to download and worth a go in these strange times. There are also great subscription services like PlayStation Now and Xbox Games Pass which offer a great range of games for a monthly fee. Worth it for even one month if you can afford it.

That’s pretty much it for this week, but it’s always lovely to have you round. If you feel like stopping by more often, that’d be grand. We’ve got all kinds for you to read about, including classic Flash games, open world epics, story-driven games, relaxing games, or even games to play with your kids.

EA’s New ‘Rocket Arena’ Is More Than Another Battle Royale

BY THEREDNOW STAFF Y’know when games get revealed and they don’t really do it for you, at the first time of asking? I definitely got the impression that, after its spot on this year’s EA Play presentation, that has firmly fallen into that category. What was shown off covered some key bases: this is a […]
