Curtis Rogers, seven, made a decision to tip in when he located out his babysitter, Rachel Chapman, would certainly not much longer be having an elderly prom.

The young person, who has been looked after by Rachel for even more than a year, shocked his minder when he turned up with a significant sign asking her to the ‘senior prom’.

“I was kind of like, bummed placing my outfit on because I was unfortunate; I don’t get to wear it to my elderly prom.

The young LAD hasn’t seen Rachel for two months but thinks she’s ‘one of the best people’ – so when his mum, Elissa Rogers, explained that Rachel wouldn’t be experiencing prom, his response was: “We can throw a mini prom.”

Good Morning America reports that Curtis put on his best suit and even chose the menu for the occasion. He opted for peanut butter and apples for starter, Chick-fil-A for main and smoothies for dessert.

The youngster made a toast to Rachel at the beginning of the evening before the pair danced (at a distance) and used a six-foot pool noodle and jump ropes to ensure they were separated.

Speaking to GMA, Elissa said: “It was a sweet thing for him to do. They have a special relationship .She has become a part of our family, he absolutely adores her.

“She’s a just great person with good heart so it’s been a blessing to have her helping us out with Curtis.”

In an interview with ABC, she added: “He was very excited and wanted to make sure everything was just right, and get his suit on and pick out his bowtie that matched her dress. It was really cute. He was really excited for it to start and make sure he was ready to impress her.”

Rachel, a senior at Sanderson High School in Raleigh, North Carolina, added: “I was so surprised. I had no idea he was going to go all out. It was very thoughtful and sweet.

“I was kind of like, bummed putting my dress on because I was sad; I don’t get to wear it to my senior prom.

“After leaving it and having that time with him because it was the first time I had seen him in two months, it was like, really fun, and I’m really glad that he did that.

“First he was waiting outside when we got there with the pool noodle and then he led me into the backyard. He had all my favourite foods and everything. I could tell he put a lot of thought into it.”
