Ed Kavalee Has Been Voted Australia's Funniest Comic
BY THEREDNOW STAFF
Over the years, Australia has provided the world with some pretty iconic comedians, from Jim Jeffries and Tim Minchin to Rebel Wilson and Hannah Gadsby.
While everyone will have their own favourite, Therednow Australia was keen to see who you thought was the funniest of the lot. We collated 16 names and pitted them against each other and asked you to vote. The results were very interesting. Drum roll please…
After 900 votes and a three-stage knock out, Ed Kavalee was voted Australia’s funniest comic.
The radio host, who has bounced around a few shows over his illustrious career, has also made a name for himself in the TV and movie spheres, having appeared on legendary shows like Thank God You’re Here and Have You Been Paying Attention?
The final round was a brutal battle between Ed and Tommy Little, who secured just 37 votes to clinch the win.
Judith Lucy came in third and the rest of the pack just couldn’t keep up.
It was an impressive list of comics, with the likes of Frank Woodley, Tom Gleeson, Sam Simmons, Susie Youssef, Dilruk Jayasinha, Anne Edmonds, Nazeem Hussain, Zoë Coombs Marr, Becky Lucas, Nicky Cody, Joel Creasey, Rebel Wilson and Celia Pacquola all involved.
If you want to see how good some of these comedians are then you’ll be able to see them up close and personal with Rebel Wilson’s new show .
The show, which will premiere on Amazon Prime, will lock ten Australian comics in a room full of props for six hours.
The synopsis continues: “Ten professional comedians will be locked together in a house [and] challenged with the task of making all of the other comedians laugh while keeping a straight face themselves.
“The last one to laugh is the winner, taking home the title of ‘Last One Laughing’, along with the comedic street cred and an AUD $100,000 prize.”
