Lucifer Boss Literally Laughs Off Rumours Tom Ellis Will Be Replaced

‘s producer has completely dismissed rumours that a new actor would be brought in to replace Tom Ellis, and she quite literally laughed it off.

The story has been circulating that Ian Somerhalder from would be taking over Ellis’ role as the Prince of Darkness.

Ellis has played the devil in the crime drama series for the last four seasons and is set to reprise the role in a fifth soon. It looks like he’s not going anywhere.

Executive producer Ildy Modrovich, tweeted to let fans know that the speculation was just that.

Replying to a post that called the casting speculation the ‘joke of the day,’ Modrovich wrote: “Bwahahahaha!”

In fact, it was recently reported that Ellis has actually signed up to star in season six of

Deadline reports that sources close to the show have revealed the Brit actor has agreed to take on the title role for another series.

According to the site, it had been a long slog to get the actor to put his name down for the sixth season of the show, but they managed it in the end.

Other returning cast members are onboard for another outing, meaning season six could well be officially announced soon.

The show originally aired on Fox, but it was cancelled after just three seasons. That’s when Netflix swooped it up and took it off Fox’s hands, which came as great news to loyal heads.

Thing is, this only extended the programme’s run by two seasons, with the streaming service announcing last year there would be a fifth and series.

However, the most recent announcement looks like it’s actually going to run for another season after all.

At the time of the season five renewal, series executive producers Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson said: “We are so incredibly thankful to Netflix for resurrecting our show last season, and now letting us finish the story of Lucifer on our terms.

“Most importantly, we want to thank the fans for their incredible passion and support. The best is yet to come!”

For those who haven’t seen it, is a fantasy-drama that centres on Lucifer Morningstar, or the Devil, who sacks off Hell and moves to Los Angeles to run a nightclub, before going on to become a consultant for the LAPD.
