You Can Play 'DOOM Eternal' In Third Person And It's Wild
Unless you’ve been hiding under some sort of person-sized rock, you should know that finally launched last week. You may even have spent this entire weekend tearing through multitudes of demonic enemies and that’s fine. But did you know you can also play with a third-person viewpoint?
Nope, we didn’t either but, according to PCGamesN, it seems that if you play on PC, you absolutely can. You’ll need to use a free, open-source program called Cheat Engine 7.0 in order to view the carnage from a different perspective. It will also mean messing around with internal game files which could land you in a whole heap of trouble so it’s up to you if you’re willing to take the risk.
As you can see in the video in the tweet below, the third-person viewpoint does look quite weird but it does give you a whole new perspective on what are probably by now quite familiar environments. I think the only thing that could make that video better is if the Doom Slayer was sporting the hot pink unicorn skin.
If you’re determined to give it a go, once you’ve downloaded the program you should head to the community forums where user Sunbeam has collected a load of commands. You’ll need to scroll down through the first post a fair way but you should find codes for various things, including god mode and infinite ammo. The third-person viewpoint code is in the CVars list. Again though, make sure you know what you’re doing before you start messing around with game files.
In related news, could (theoretically) run at 1000fps, you know, if there was any hardware out there that could support it. And while even the next-gen consoles won’t be able to manage that, I guess it’s good to know that the game should age well in the next decade or so.
And if you’re still undecided on whether or not to pick up , perhaps our review will help sway you one way or another.
