Kojima Wants To Create A 'Revolutionary' Horror Game That'll Make You Poop Yourself

Ever since Hideo Kojima released for PS4 late last year, fans have been eagerly anticipating the Metal Gear Solid creator’s next project. The good news is that he already has plans for a “revolutionary” new horror game… one that he hopes will make you “crap your pants”. A noble goal, if ever there was one.

In a recent interview with BAFTA, the iconic developer talked about the cancellation of infamous horror project He explained that the doomed demo essentially ended up as little more than an experiment… but he now feels ready to return to the genre and finally create the full-length horror experience he always wanted to.

“P.T. was a mysterious game, created by a mysterious studio, with no previous announcement or information, so it used forbidden techniques to increase fear,” Kojima explained.

“It was a one-off thing, so we cannot reuse that method again. PT ended as just an experiment, but I would like to make another horror game someday. Something that uses a revolutionary method to create terror, that doesn’t just make you pee your pants, but crap them.

“I already have ideas in mind,” he added. “I’m easily frightened myself, so I have confidence that I could create something more terrifying than perhaps others could.”

While Kojima has yet to confirm exactly what his next project is, he’s been teasing for a while that it’ll likely be horror related. In November last year, he said that he was watching a ton of horror movies to “awaken his horror soul” and “make the scariest horror game”.

For an all-too brief period at the start of this year, it actually looked like Kojima might have been working with Konami and Sony to revive . Multiple reports suggested that the developer had reached a new agreement with Konami (with the help of Sony) and that would be rebooted as an episodic experience that made use of the next-gen PlayStation VR headset.

Unfortunately, Konami just recently appeared to shut these rumours down once and for all. The company said that while Silent Hill could come back one day, it wouldn’t be returning in the way that reports had claimed.

While ended up being a fairly divisive title (it really wasn’t my cup of tea), is still loved and talked about to this day. If Kojima can combine all the new tricks he’s learned since 2014 with the terrifying foundation he established in , his new horror game might just lead to brown trousers all around the world.
