US Man Caught On Camera Licking Couple's Doorbell In Coronavirus Challenge
While the majority of the world stays indoors and takes careful precautions to stop the spread of the Covid-19 virus, there has been a rise on social media of ‘coronavirus challenges’.
One of the latest videos features a man licking a couple’s doorbell, while they remain inside on lockdown.
The footage shared on Facebook by Matthew Wehmeier of Batesville, Arkansas, shows two men behaving strangely before one steps forward and licks the doorbell, totally unaware that he is being filmed.
Wehmeier wrote in a Facebook post: “After reviewing last night’s events on our doorbell, my wife came across this nonsense. Our doorbell got licked!
“If that wasn’t bad enough anytime, we’re going through a pandemic right now; people are trying to be mindful about not spreading a virus. It’s gross nonsense like this that makes me lose faith in humanity.”

He added: “Clean your doorbells, everyone; think of the guests and delivery companies that use it everyday. Just use common sense when protecting yourself and others, unlike these losers!”
In the footage, two men can be seen in the doorway of the building before one of them steps forward and licks the doorbell before stepping back and laughing with his friend.
The pair can then be seen ‘flossing’ in full view of the camera before leaving.
However, the perpetrator did return to apologise just three days later, which was also filmed by Wehmeier’s security camera.
He said: “What I did the other night was absolutely uncalled for and I understand that and I apologise.

“I was kinda showing out and putting on a show for the camera. And that’s not okay, I apologise for that.”
In the second video, Wehmeier responds to the man through the camera saying: “I appreciate that. That’s stand up of you.”
The video is just one of a number of ‘coronavirus challenge’ videos that have been gaining popularity on social media platforms including TikTok. the series of videos feature people licking items in public places, which health professionals have warned is ‘highly irresponsible’.
presenter Piers Morgan recently commented on the disturbing trend after revealing a man who’d been caught ‘licking a toilet bowl’ had reportedly been struck down with a case of coronavirus.
In a recent interview, TikTok confirmed it would be seeking to remove these challenge videos from it’s website with immediate effect.
