Dog Plays Dead To Avoid Going Home While On His Lockdown Walk

With many of us currently only allowed to leave the house for some officially-sanctioned exercise once a day, a dog in America decided to milk it for all its worth – having played dead when it was time to go home so that he could stay out.

Blue the dog has clearly been missing out on his regular walks with owner Cady McNerney, 28, having decided to throw a tantrum in protest.

The two-year-old pup was out for a stroll with Cady when the time came for them to make a move home.

But Blue, from Austin, Texas, had other ideas, and stopped dead in his tracks.

In fact, it’s a trick Blue’s been doing ever since he was a puppy, much to the amusement of Cady, who says her pet often suffers from FOMO: the Fear of Missing Out.

Same, Blue. Same.

But marketing manager Cady reckons her dog’s ‘temper tantrums’ are becoming more frequent since lockdown, which means he can’t go outside as often as he’d like – especially as Blue, who was born blind and regularly goes to doggy daycare, hasn’t been able to see his furry friends.

Cady posted the video of Blue playing dead on social media to make people laugh, which is something we could obviously all do with right now.

Thankfully, her amusing clip seemed to do the trick, as it soon went viral and was shared worldwide.

Cady said: “Since he was a puppy, he has protested going home by throwing his body on the ground and playing dead. Since we’ve been in quarantine, these ‘temper tantrums’ have become more frequent, he doesn’t like quarantine.

“He has severe FOMO [fear of missing out], if he’s home and inside he might miss out on his friends walking by or some pets from strangers.

“He loves going for walks, it’s the coming home part he dislikes.

“Even though he’s blind, he has tried to runaway when I’ve dropped his lead, like when I’m getting the mail or throwing away his poop bag.

“He always ends up at the neighbourhood dog park. He has memorised how to get there by himself.

“He’s a goofy guy that hasn’t met a person or pup he didn’t like.”

Hopefully it won’t be too long before Blue’s able to frolic outside whenever he wants – though something tells me he’ll still be up to his old tricks.
