Now, Captain Tom is building up towards his 100th birthday, which takes place on April 30 – that’s next Thursday.
As we all know by now, Tom prepared for that by agreeing to walk 100 laps around his garden to raise money for the NHS.

Despite only setting out to raise £1,000 – which would have been a fantastic effort too, by the way – his cause quickly found the way to the heart of the general public around the world.
At the last check, he’s raised more than £28m off the back of donations from 1.3m different people.
The JustGiving page is still there, if you haven’t chucked in already.
