The good news is that the remaster feature that beloved couch multiplayer, as well as a bevy of new online options so that you can play with faraway friends. This is according to Vicarious Visions chief operating officer Simon Ebejer, who confirmed to GAMINGbible that the game will “absolutely” have all the classic local multiplayer fun we remember.

“We absolutely will”, Ebejer said when asked about local multiplayer. “We recognise that having local splitscreen is an imperative for this game. It was so much fun back in the day, right? And it still is. I think that a lot of players are gonna still wanna sit on their sofa next to their friends and try to best each other. We’re absolutely supporting that along with online multiplayer,”

Ebejer also touched on some of the multiplayer modes we can expect as part of the remastered package. Pretty much all the modes you remember from the original games are present and correct, including Graffiti and Score Challenge. These can all be played locally or online, but there are some other exciting benefits to taking these classic titles online.

During the interview, Ebejer revealed that much-loved features like the custom park editor and create a skater have been enhanced and fixed up in a number of ways – including the option to share your creations with other players online.

“Obviously we’ve polished the visuals,” said of modernising the games. “But beyond that – it has the feeling of a modern game. The create a park system and all the tools that we have there for creating parks and people being able to share them online with other players, same with the create a skater system.
