Donald Trump Threatens To Shut Down Social Media After Twitter Fact Checks Tweet

BY THEREDNOW STAFF

As Trump published concerning mail-in ballots being ‘fraudulent’, Twitter classified the tweet with a web link reading ‘Get the realities about mail-in tallies’, which routed customers to a Twitter Moments web page that permitted them to read further news stories regarding the subject.

The mail-in tally concern has become a contentious problem in the US after the Californian governor revealed that citizens would certainly receive a tally in the mail as well as permitting them go to a tally box in November.

However, his cases have since been fact-checked to disclose that only Californians who are signed up to elect will certainly obtain a tally – highlighting why the Twitter attribute has actually been introduced.

The aim is to ensure that people read unbiased reports about an issue to see the wider context, rather than necessarily accepting individual tweets as cast-iron fact.

However, the feature did not go down well with the 73-year-old, who posted: “Twitter is now interfering in the 2020 Presidential Election.

“They are saying my statement on Mail-In Ballots, which will lead to massive corruption and fraud, is incorrect, based on fact-checking by Fake News CNN and the Amazon Washington Post.

“Twitter is completely stifling FREE SPEECH, and I, as President, will not allow it to happen!”

The mail-in ballot issue has become a contentious issue in the US after the Californian governor announced that citizens would receive a ballot in the mail as well as allowing them go to a ballot box in November.

Mr Trump has warned that it could allow non-residents or non-citizens to vote in the federal election and could sway the results.

However, his claims have since been fact-checked to reveal that only Californians who are registered to vote will get a ballot – illustrating why the Twitter feature has been introduced.

But the US President has now warned that social media companies could be penalised if they tried to meddle in his affairs.

He wrote: “Republicans feel that Social Media Platforms totally silence conservatives voices.

“We will strongly regulate, or close them down, before we can ever allow this to happen. We saw what they attempted to do, and failed, in 2016. We can’t let a more sophisticated version of that happen again.

“Just like we can’t let large scale Mail-In Ballots take root in our Country. It would be a free for all on cheating, forgery and the theft of Ballots. Whoever cheated the most would win.

“Likewise, Social Media. Clean up your act, NOW!!!!”

Twitter has yet to respond to Trump’s threat.
