Woman Recreates Fiance's Stag Do At Home After His Was Cancelled Due To Coronavirus

Boozy social gatherings maybe the stuff of distant memories right now, but one woman decided her fiance wasn’t going to miss out on a big night for his stag do – having roped the lads in to help her recreate proceedings at home.

Sarah Quinn, 36, and David Murphy, 34, were due to get married in Santorini this May, but the coronavirus pandemic has meant they’ve had to push things back to later this year in autumn.

While Sarah had already managed to squeeze the first part of her hen do in at the beginning of March before the country went into lockdown meaning she wasn’t too gutted about missing out on round two in May – David hadn’t managed to get round to celebrating in any way.

“I was gutted for him and hated that he was missing out,” Sarah, who works as a carer in London, told Therednow.

So I thought, if the groom can’t go to the stag then I will bring the stag to the groom and the idea of a fake stag was born.”

Sarah managed to keep the whole thing a secret from David by telling him that she’d organised a date night for the two of them – failing to mention that their cosy evening in would actually involve a makeshift ‘karaoke strip club’ and all of his best mates, who tuned in via video call.

Better still, Sarah also dressed up as a bloke herself, just to really hit the theme home, and made him show his ID to a ‘bouncer’ on the door before being stamped and allowed in.

She continued: “This was my way of making the best of a bad situation. I told him I was doing us a ‘quarantine date night’ to make up for it – as if a date in your own house compares to your stag do.

But instead of a date night, I threw him a fake stag do. I dressed as a man, called myself ‘Man Like Quinn’ and turned our flat into a karaoke strip club, with a photo booth, a karaoke corner, free drinks and ‘stud muffins’ – muffins featuring photos of him and his boys.”

Sarah also laid on a spread of ‘Man Food’ like McCoys crisps, Yorkies (they’re ‘not for girls’, remember), Maynards Sports Mix sweets and even Mars Bars – ‘because men are from Mars and women are from Venus!’.

There was also a private room for lap dances… Okay, that was just the kitchen, which had been concealed behind a curtain, but still.

While it may not have been a boys’ getaway to Vegas or a beer-fuelled weekend in Prague, it sounds like Sarah managed to pull off a pretty solid plan B.

Fingers crossed their big day can go ahead in October – in the meantime, at least there’s always karaoke.
