It sounds like there’s finally going to be a new Crash Bandicoot game. has appeared on the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee, and it looks like it’ll be headed to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

“Crash is relaxing and exploring his island in his time, 1998, when he finds a mysterious mask hidden away in a cave, Lani-Loli,” reads the translated description under the listing.

“The mask is one of the Quantum Masks and apparently knows Aku-Aku, Crash’s mask friend! With the Quantum Masks returning and a Quantum Rift appearing near our heroes, they decide to bravely head through to different times and dimensions to stop whoever is responsible.”

According to the listing, the game is being developed by Toys For Bob. That’s the same studio that led development on the Spyro remaster, and also helped out with 2017’s Crash Bandicoot remasters – as well as . It’d certainly make sense to call in those guys to put together a new game.

Just yesterday, we told you all about a recent message from Activision that appeared to be teasing something Crash Bandicoot related. We received a 200-piece jigsaw puzzle in the post, which when assembled formed an image of a strange-looking mask. Could this be what that was teasing? I suppose we’ll have to wait and see.

would certainly be an apt name for the first brand-new Crash adventure in over a decade. The last full entry was , which was… not a good time. This was back when Activision pushed the weird redesigned Crash Bandicoot with tribal tattoos and naff gameplay.

From the looks of the leaked box art above, could be a fairly back-to-basics approach for the Bandicoot. Coming off the back of the success of the remasters, that’d probably be the right move. People definitely know what they like about Crash at this point, and it’s linear levels with straightforward platforming challenges.

As always, it’s best to take these leaks with a pinch of salt until we get official confirmation from Activision. Hopefully the publisher decides to share more with us soon. Until then, eat plenty of Wumpa fruit and avoid any boxes marked TNT. Solid advice for all occasions, if you ask me.
