Hairdresser Cuts Holes In Umbrella To Create Barrier Between Clients

Businesses across the world are having to adapt to the unprecedented barriers they face as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

But one hair salon in the Netherlands has attempted to overcome these barriers by manufacturing a barrier of their own.

In a bid to stop the spread of Covid-19, countries the world over are observing social distancing measures, which clearly can’t be followed when cutting someone’s hair. This inspired a stylist at Bella Rosa salon in Oss to create a makeshift shield out of a brolly with two armholes and two eyeholes cut into it.

Clearly, the contraption made the hairdresser look ridiculous, but the innovation went viral on Facebook, with footage of the device in use receiving more than 82,000 shares.

One person said: “You have an invention for everything, right. Super woman.”

While another less flattering comment read simply: “Bunch of lunatics.”

In other less bizarre barrier-based news, Morrisons has installed protective screens at its checkouts to protect staff and customers amid the coronavirus.

Morrisons’ chief executive, David Potts, said the company had employed 83 fitting teams to install protective screens at every checkout as soon as possible with the well-being of colleagues ‘paramount’.

He said: “We want to do our bit to help customers and colleagues from being affected and to help everyone observe social distancing at our checkouts. This will help us to continue to play our full part in feeding the nation – it’s more than our job.”

Last week, the supermarket set out a whole host of measures intended to help tackle the pandemic, including creating 3,500 new jobs, asking customers to avoid paying by cash and issuing hand sanitiser at all of its checkouts.

Potts said: “We expect the days, weeks and months ahead to be very testing and we are determined to do our bit.

“These measures will support our very hard-working colleagues, enable us to provide more food to more people in their homes and create opportunities for people whose jobs are affected by the coronavirus.”
